Zongzi (sticky rice dumpling) is a traditional dish enjoyed during the Dragon Boat Festival. Made of glutinous rice stuffed with various fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves, zongzi has a distinctive aroma and flavor!
Southern-style zongzi: the ingredients for southern-style zongzi are placed raw into bamboo leaves and then boiled together. This method of cooking without pre-stir-frying results in a softer, glutinous texture and a lighter flavor profile.
Steam it in a steamer for 30 minutes. Alternatively, defrost it in the refrigerator for at least half a day, then steam for 15 minutes. Remove the bamboo leaves and enjoy!
